What are the benefits of using a recruitment agency to find a job?

Speaking to candidates and friends recently, I have been hearing this question a lot: What are the benefits of using a recruitment agency to find a job?

Rightfully so, if someone is applying for multiple positions, and interviewing every other day, they want to know if it’s going to be worth their valuable time talking to me – isn’t that just lengthening the interview process?

For anyone who hasn’t gone through a recruitment agency before, I can assure you that it’s always worth talking to a recruiter, especially as a graduate or someone entering a new market, and here’s why:

We can save you time

Job hunting can be extremely time consuming, especially if you’re already working full time. This is where we can help. We save you the endless searching time by introducing you to numerous different roles. You don’t need to read a lengthy job description to try and understand if a role is a good fit for you. We will explain the role and the company to you and filter out the roles that wouldn’t be a good fit.

We negotiate on your behalf

We dive into your wants and needs and gain an in depth understanding of what is really important to you in your next role. We can then help you choose companies that tick these boxes, and if they don’t, we have relationships with the employer, allowing us to negotiate on your behalf. We take the stress away from negotiating on salary or asking for more flexibility around working hours.

Ongoing coaching

As a recruiter, we don’t say goodbye once we have secured the interview or placed you in the job. We offer guidance and support throughout the entire process. We offer interview prep sessions and coach you from end-to-end. From handing in your notice and dealing with a counteroffer, to ensuring you’re all set up for your onboarding.

Get the inside scoop

Very often a company won’t advertise that they’re hiring. We can put you forward for these companies and give you inside information you may not find on a job description. Not only that, we can give you an insight into the company culture, who you’ll be working with and what salary you should be looking for based on your own experience and the current market.

You remain in a job search database

Even if we don’t have a role for you at present, you will stay in our database. Your CV isn’t tossed aside if an offer doesn’t pan out immediately. Instead, you’re kept on the recruiter’s radar for future positions.

Though you might think your information will get lost in a huge pool of candidates, that’s not the case. Recruiters use applicant tracking systems that make sorting candidates easy. The software pulls specific information from your resume and matches it to relevant jobs. When the right opening comes along, it’s likely your resume will surface.

More likely to be seen by the employer

You are probably wondering why you haven’t heard back from the 12,432 job applications you have submitted. It’s because you’re one of 12,431 other applications.

As recruiters, we send your CV directly to the hiring manager or manager of the team who is hiring. The likelihood of your CV being noticed is significantly higher. We also compose and send a tailored write up to the hiring manager, highlighting your best attributes and outlining why you would be a great fit for the role. When speaking to the hiring managers, we emphasise points about you that aren’t on your CV; your charisma, attitude and outgoing nature. These are things that are difficult to portray over a piece of paper- but we’ve got you covered.

How much does it cost?

Another common question I get asked is “how much do you charge for our services?” Absolutely nothing – our service is not paid by you, the job seeker.

It can be daunting going on the job hunt. The bottom line is we take the stress out of the whole process. Let us strengthen your profile, organise your interviews and you can focus on landing your dream job. Get in touch with us if you’re looking for a new exciting job, we would love to help you!
