We spotted this lovely infographic recently (thank you LinkedIn Talent Solutions!) and felt it was a perfect illustration of the hybrid skill set needed to be a successful recruiter.
We have to know when to dial up and dial down our creative, analytical, marketing and technical skills in accordance with the project we are assigned, on a case by case basis.
And one of the most important skills we have is understanding chemistry – a candidate can tick every single box and provide solid evidence of all the required competencies, but whether they will get on well with the hiring manager (and rest of the team) at the client company, is something that is a yes or no answer.
A great recruiter will identify professional chemistry between a client and candidate before the two parties meet, and make the right introductions between people that will spark off each other in the right way.
