Our guest for this session of ‘The Mindset Shift’ is Pat Stephenson, Founder and Chief Relationship Officer at Boys + Girls, a Branded Entertainment Agency. Pat has over 20 years agency experience leading brands both in Ireland and on a global scale.
Dublin born and bred; Pat shares with Tim McCarthy his experience working from a young age. Pat grew up in a house that had a solid work ethic, with his dad being an auctioneer and his mum looking after him and his three siblings. At the age of fourteen he had to pick up some part time work. He says this was the best thing that happened to him because it made him realise the importance of establishing good relationships in the work environment to get anything done.
Pat speaks about his fond memories of college. He explains to Tim McCarthy that he started his undergraduate degree in Psychology and hated it. The real benefit of college was not the course he did, but what he learnt about himself and his true interests.
Pat shares his experience of being denied a place in an advertising masters and how he dealt with this rejection. With courage and persistence, Pat eventually got into the masters and this was only the start of his long journey in advertising.
Finally, he talks about the lessons he has learned throughout his years in the working world.
