Brendan Hughes on Bridging the Gap in Digital Media | The Mindset Shift

Our next guest for The Mindset Shift is Brendan Hughes, CEO of Optily, an Irish software company that is the only single-click ad optimizer for eCommerce.

Brendan has been leading the transformation of Irish and international brands for 20 years; enabling them to respond better to the needs of digital customers. He has led teams across numerous high-growth consumer-facing organizations, such as Boyle Sports, FBD Insurance and Independent News & Media.

In this episode, Tim McCarthy brings Brendan back to his time growing up in Meath, where he experienced first-hand what it was like to be a small business owner working in his parents’ local shop.

He speaks about the tragic death of his father when he was 14 years of age, and how that shaped his future. He shares his struggles with mental health growing up and how that experience made him the empathetic leader he is today.

He then walks us through his career and in particular his time in Independent News and Media, where he recognised a gap in the market from going through the transition from being a buyer to a seller in media.
