Smart Social Media by Cabinteely FC

We love nothing more than when a small, relatively unknown brand, company or organisation manage to make international headlines, specially through a smart social media campaign.

In this case, the clever chaps are The Link Marketing, a small agency in Dublin, leveraged a year-old story about how Manchester City FC footballer Yaya Toure was upset at his club’s apparent lack of interest in his birthday in June 2014, by sending a Birthday Tweet to him on behalf of their client, League of Ireland team Cabinteely FC.

The results were amazing: after many retweets (from big global brands and social media influencers), the story started to rank in a variety of global online publications, reinforcing that even the smallest marketing & PR budgets can achieve a lot if used in a smart way – serious kudos to The Link Marketing on a very effective campaign!
